What is Agitator?

An Agitator is a mechanical device used to mix or stir a liquid or mixture of liquids. Agitators are widely used in a type of industries, including water treatment, Power industries, oil and gas industries, chemical manufacturing industries, pharmaceutical industries, paper and pulp industries, food & beverage processing industries, and Milk product Manufacturing industries.

The most common type of agitator is a propeller agitator. Propeller agitators have a rotating propeller that mixes the liquid by creating turbulence. Propeller agitators are typically used for mixing liquids that are not too viscous.

Another type of agitator is an anchor agitator. Anchor agitators have a rotating anchor that mixes the liquid by scraping the bottom of the tank. Anchor agitators are typically used for mixing viscous liquids.

Types of Agitators

Agitators For Water Treatment Plants

Agitator For Chemical Process Plants

Agitators For Reactor Vessels

Static Mixer

Some of the applications of agitators:

  • Mixing chemicals in a reactor
  • Stirring paint in a mixing tank
  • Blending ingredients in a food processing plant
  • Agitating wastewater to remove pollutants
  • Mixing concrete
  • Dispersing air into a liquid to create foam

Agitators come in a variety of sizes and designs to meet the specific needs of each application. The type of agitator that is best suited for a particular application will depend on the viscosity of the liquid, the size of the tank, the desired mixing speed, and the budget.
